Pam
Wortham brings over 31 years of managerial, finance,
audit, banking, accounting and budgeting experience to
assist the clients of Fuquay Solutions.
KNOWLEDGE
AND EXPERIENCE
Pam
is a Certified Public Accountant who has held leadership
positions throughout state government. Her career
began in the Office of State Auditor, where she led audits
of state agencies, community colleges, local governmental
units, and non-profits. As the Accounting Manager for
the N.C. Department of Agriculture, Pam oversaw all financial
management functions for the $85 million department,
as well as purchasing and audit preparation. In
both of these positions, she worked closely with federal
funds and cost allocation accounting and reporting. Pam
also led the efforts to get hundreds of millions in emergency
funds out to farmers and other landowners in the State
after the devastating floods resulting from Hurricane
Floyd in 1999. In recognition of her work, Commissioner
of Agriculture Jim Graham honored her with a Superior
Service Award.
EXPERIENCE
BENEFICIAL TO OUR CLIENTS
Most
recently, Pam served as the Chief Financial Officer and
Deputy State Treasurer for Financial Operations. In
this role she managed the State
of North Carolina’s banking services, which process
more than $25 billion in checks and $125 billion in wire
transfers annually. She also managed the accounting
for the $70 billion investments portfolio, including
the state’s pension fund and 401k. During
her tenure, Pam oversaw a major technology upgrade that
revolutionized the way money moved through the state’s
banks and reduced fraud. She also represented the
State Treasurer at the N.C. State Board of Community
Colleges and in other high-level meetings.
Pam
Wortham is a 1979 graduate of the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Bachelor of Science
in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. She
is a member of the NC Association of CPAs and received
the Order of the Long Leaf Pine from Governor Beverly
Perdue in October 2010.
